Riverside Art Museum

In 1975, the Boston Museum of Fine Art commissioned an installation entitled “Please Be Seated,” which included chairs from several makers including Sam Maloof. As part of the celebration for his 100 birthday, the Riverside Art Museum, in conjunction with the Maloof Foundation, put together a group show entitled (intentionally playing on the title of the 1975 Boston show) “Sit With Me”, by way of exploring Maloof‘s influence on contemporary chair makers who are carrying his torch so to speak. I couldn’t be more honored to have been invited to make several pieces for the installation. The thought of having my pieces sitting next to those of my hero was daunting to say the least. Seeing Maloof’s pieces in person was truly awe inspiring.
